What We Offer:
Undersea technologies are extremely sensitive to the in-water environment and minor differences in design can result in very large variances in actual performance. Thus, at various stages of their development, technologies must be tested in realistic at-sea conditions. Based on findings from data collected during at-sea tests, improvements in the technologies and eventual Navy Fleet systems are made.

MAI offers a cadre of personnel with a unique blend of scientific, technical, and operational Navy expertise. This team provides the backbone for assessing a variety of technologies including acoustic and non-acoustic USW and ASW, littoral warfare, remote sensing, basic underwater research, and bio-acoustics. Members of our team have planned and executed numerous sea-tests, co-designed major acoustic detection systems, and contributed to development of several acoustic models and associated software.

How We Do It:
MAI plays a key role in every aspect of the test and evaluation process for new technologies including:

Communication and working with exercise participants to formulate coordinated test plans designed specifically to meet all participating projects’ objectives;

Coordinating test schedules to improve economies of scale by optimizing the use of scarce Fleet and research vessel assets;

Coordinating test logistics, including research vessel contracts, equipment shipments, and mobilization and demobilization of vessels;

Deploying a team of Chief Scientists, Test Directors, Unit Coordinators, mobilization and demobilization coordinators, and technology team leaders to oversee the safe and effective conduct of sea-tests;

Collecting on-scene data and assist in reconstruction of the experiment.
